MY BLADON FAMILY
When I started researching my maiden name of Bladon, I knew nothing about the family as my grandfather died when I was 7 and his father when he was about the same age. All that I had was the marriage certificate of my great grandparents. My father remembered that there was a grave at the church where his parents married at Kings Heath Worcestershire (now part of Birmingham) and I quickly found the Monumental Inscriptions book at the library. The grave was of my great grandfathers brother and sister who died as babies and this gave the parents and dates to go on. After that using the census and the parish registers, it didn't take me long to get back to my great x 5 grandfather Edward born about 1760.
For 15 years I was stuck on his parentage until February 2005 I found it at Uttoxeter Staffordshire in 1762. I won't go into how I knew it was the correct one, it's too long. From this I joined 3 other trees onto mine, one being from JOHN BLADON & ELIZABETH SALT of MARCHINGTON STAFFORDSHIRE, JOHN BLADON of BARTON UNDER NEEDWOOD STAFFORDSHIRE & WILLIAM BELL BLADON of LONDON.
I now have my tree back to a marriage in 1604 at Somersall Herbert Derbyshire. The Bladon's of Sudbury, Doveridge and Somershall Herbert Derbyshire all connect into mine it is just the case of going through all the wills, parish registers and rental books from the Vernons of Sudbury hall as these Bladon's were tennants there for many generations.
There is another Bladon family at Somersall Herbert and Sudbury who start with a Philip marrying Catherine Madeley in 1595. I am sure he is a brother to Thomas as the chances of 2 Bladon's being in the same small village and being unrelated is remote.
One big boost to my research was a Chancery Dispute dated 1698. This related to the will of William Barnes of Uttoxeter Woodlands Staffordshire. He had no family and left his property to various Bladon cousins and naturally there was a falling out. With a copy of the will and the 3 surviving parts of the Chancery case, I confirmed my tree back to 1604 with the marriage of Thomas Bladon to Elizabeth Barnes, (William's aunt)
The main places associated with my tree are;-
Tanworth in Arden Warwickshire
Birmingham Warwickshire
Kings Heath/Moseley Worcestershire

The main names on my tree are:-

Of course there are many more, but these are the ones I am interested in most.
